T152 - Far East Hero

T152 - Far East Hero

Go back to the records from the 1932 map.

G1132. Bristol Beaufort, these aircraft gave a good account of themselves and figured largely in the heroic attempts of the Coastal Command Squadrons to neutralise the threat of the German warships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau which culminated on a direct hit on Gneisenau in April 1941. The pilot of the Beaufort concerned, F. Off K Campbell of No 22 squadron was awarded a posthumous VC, he and his crew were killed in the intense flak over the target.
