| G1138. A 'Boxkite' pictured at Richmond, London for the show in 1910 to launch the 'British & Colonial Aeroplane Company'. Workmen are constructing the aircraft under the bridges by the railway. This aircraft was designed by George Challenger, and officially known as the Bristol-Challenger Biplane, but nicknamed 'Boxkite'. The Boxkite was so similar to the Henri Farman biplane that the French company sued BCAC for breach of copyright. The lawyers decided that the changes made and the far superior craftsmanship decreed that it was a different machine and the French withdrew their claim. | |
