G1179. The Ram Jet Development area in the early 1950's must have been one of the noisier areas of the Aero Engine site. Bristol Aeroplane Company Engine Division spent a lot of effort in examining the potential of the Ram Jet. Its efficient possibilities and few moving parts making it an attractive proposition to manufacturers. The railway line runs alongside.
