West side of Airfield

West side of Airfield

Go back to the records from the 1915 map.

G1378. This picture of the West side of the airfield was taken in the twenties soon after WW1 hostilities ceased. The Aircraft Acceptance Park Hangars look fairly new and with few buildings alongside. The road from Bristol to Gloucester looks as if it is still a country road. Farm buildings can be seen on the corner of what is now Gipsy Patch Lane leading of to Frampton Cotterell. The aircraft look like Bristol Fighters. This is before the hangars were turned into a Flying School.
