G1418. The Britannia was a success story for the Bristol factory, the aircraft had a long and relatively trouble free life and flew in all parts of the world right up to the nineties. This aircraft was one made in Belfast by Short's and used by the RAF. The aircraft was fairly unique in that every component used in its manufacture was made by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, this was unusual for a large aircraft. This picture was taken at a RR Open Day in October 1974. These events were very popular with not only company employees but the local populace in general.
