G1680. Taken at night during 1942 or 1943. This large factory workplace shows engines being made at various stages of production. This may of been in the Shadow Factory. The sign on the right of the photograph states that there are 400 live wires, these are the vertical electric wires that lead down to the lathes from the ceiling. You can see a gas cylinder on the trolley near the right hand front of the photograph.
