An Aerial view of the Filton factory

An Aerial view of the Filton factory

Go back to the records from the 1971 map.

G2279. A nice image of the Bristol Aircraft Company works taken sometime in the 1970's. The Brabazon Assembly Halls are shown in the foreground with the factory spread out behind. It can easily be seen from this shot just how big the factory is, the town of Filton spread out behind takes up less space than the factory and it can be understood how major an employer it was. Unseen and away to the left across the airfield are the factory buildings of the engine division, equally as big.

Beyond the houses at the top where there are fields, now sits the MOD complex, a school and a College plus numerous businesses.
