G2796. Aerial view of East and West Works taken during Circa 1976. On the left devided by the A38 Gloucester Road, going northwards, are the extensive buildings of West Works. Many of these are now demolished to make way for the extensive Royal Mail buildings built during the 1990s. On the right hand side of the A38 are the factory shop numbers 1 and 2 just visible. The white building on the corner of the A38 and Gipsy Patch Lane is the staff canteen, built since the early 1920s. The housing estates of Patchway north of the runway, and Little Stoke on the right can be seen clearly in the distance. In the foreground running alongside the A38 on the left-hand side you can just see the air-raid shelters on the airfield.
