The airfield viewed from the east

The airfield viewed from the east

Go back to the records from the 1915 map.

G2856. The airfield viewed from the east over Gipsy Patch Lane around the early 1920's. The World War 1 Acceptance hangars have become the engine division, now with its own offices fronting onto the Gloucester Road. On the far side of the airfield can be seen the RAF complex of buildings with a few aircraft on the grass strip. The road leading across to the RAF is no longer there and the main factory buildings for Rolls-Royce take up the majority of the fields in the foreground.
