Blenheims of the Turkish Air Force

Blenheims of the Turkish Air Force

Back to the story

G1008. A row of Bristol Blenheims of the Turkish Air Force. Twelve Mark 1 Blenheims were delivered between October 1937 and June 1938 followed by a second batch of 18 flown out in the winter of 1938-39. Turkey remained neutral for most of the war joining the allies in February 1945, but the Blenheims, based near Izmir, were kept busy patrolling the Aegean Sea and protecting Turkey's borders. Later in the war they were joined by a number of Blenheim IVs and some Beauforts and Beaufighters.
