Group of Working Women

Group of Working Women

Back to the story

G1204. Here is a typical group of women workers at British and Colonial Aircraft Company around the 1916 - 1918 period. Women were brough into the workforce whilst their men were away fighting at the Western Front. Ada Smith is the last lady on the right in the rear row, of a group of wing stringers. They are posed for their photograph in a brick built building wearing their mop caps and matching overalls.
