Back to the story

G2335. On December the 2nd 1962 at approximately 3.30 pm the BAC attended a fire on the main east/west runway. The Vulcan aircraft XA903 used as latest bed for the Olympus 320 engine, destined for the TSR2 caught fire. The BAC fire truck which attended became consumed by the rapidly spreading, and burning fuel, the department had won prizes with their appliance but sadly it was destroyed beyond repair.
